About

Built from inside the business. Not from a consulting playbook.

I'm Brittany Sutton, founder of Crude HR. I spent more than 15 years leading HR inside oilfield services, transportation, manufacturing, and other operationally demanding businesses. I've been responsible for the back-office processes that have to keep up with the operation — payroll, onboarding, compliance, employee changes, approvals, documentation, and the handoffs between field teams and the office.

I worked closely with operations leaders, district managers, supervisors, safety teams, payroll, accounting, and field employees. I saw firsthand what happens when critical processes depend on paper, spreadsheets, email chains, and one person knowing all the workarounds.

Founder, Crude HR

I built Crude HR from the back-office side of field operations.

My job wasn't running equipment in the field. It was making sure the people and processes behind the operation actually worked.

Payroll had to be right. Employees had to be ready to work. Documentation had to hold up. Approvals had to move. And the office had to keep pace with crews who did not have time for complicated systems.

That is who Crude HR is built for: the service companies and contractors that operators call when work needs to get done. Wireline, workover, rental tools, hot shot and trucking, roustabout crews, and the industrial contractors alongside them. You are the one sending the crew, getting the ticket signed, and waiting on the approval, not the one approving it. The name says Crude, but the customers are the companies that keep production running, not the ones that own the wells.

Practical systems built around how work actually gets done

A reference from someone I worked for

Derek was an executive at a company where I led HR and payroll — a professional reference, not a Crude HR client testimonial. It's included because it speaks directly to the kind of paper-to-digital work Crude HR does today.

The old systems of paper were scrapped, and Brittany had the entire set of historical records, totaling tens of thousands, and the entire department converted to electronic documents within weeks.

I don't just recommend the process. I can build the fix.

Crude HR combines practical process improvement with workflow automation and custom internal tools. I start by understanding how the work actually moves, simplify the process, and then determine what should be automated, integrated, or built.

I design and build practical internal tools around real business workflows. Most automation fails not because the software is bad but because whoever built it never ran a payroll, closed a compliance audit, or watched a crew try to use an app with gloves on.

The problems I know how to fix

  • Paper and spreadsheet-heavy workflows
  • Duplicate data entry
  • Approval bottlenecks
  • Payroll and bonus handoffs
  • Employee onboarding
  • Document routing
  • Field-to-office information gaps
  • Processes dependent on one person knowing all the workarounds
How I approach every engagement

Fix the process first. Then automate what's worth automating.

Not every broken process needs another software subscription. Sometimes the right answer is improving what you already have. Sometimes it is automation. Sometimes a purpose-built internal tool makes sense.

You work directly with me.

Crude HR is intentionally founder-led. I handle the process review, workflow design, recommendations, and build work directly rather than handing the project off after the sale.

Start with the one process everyone works around

Talk to the person who will do the work.

In 15 minutes, we will look at one field-to-office handoff, approval chain, paper form, spreadsheet, billing delay, onboarding issue, or compliance bottleneck. You will know whether the process is worth a full audit and what the practical next step should be.
